Did this video help you?

Jim hamradio: Im a Ham Tom and i believe the noise is from the electric or water companys transmitting there signals for our bills. Like to know how we can stop this, I get a solid s9 on my rigs and other hams in the area get the same. THinking of buying a eton 750 but why bother with the noise we get.

Ima Wiseguy: Keep your hands out of the videos,it's doesn't help anything!!!

gunraptor: Tom, just want to say thanks for the video.  New to the hobby and just learning the ropes enough to buy my first receiver.  I'd be lying if I said your video didn't help.  Thanks for putting these up here, and I look forward to more in the future.
Just an idea that might be cool to watch on your channel: You (and possibly a couple others) bump around the spectrum, making comments on and adding context to what you find, and how you found it.  It would be a nice thing to see on youtube as something of a pseudo-tutorial, while not being a "how-to."
Cheers, and thanks again for helping me decide on my first radio...hoping it was the right choice....(Super 909x modded by RadioLab, btw).

sigint99: Put a decent external antenna on the ATS-909X and it will blow away the 750 and PL-660 in sensitivity and reception of weak signals. The 909X has superior dynamic range and bandpass filtering that enables it to handle almost any antenna.

Rev. Gunn: Should make contact, the adjust the antenna for best reception. Sorry not very helpful

neotargetone: Could someone please tell me how to tell the difference between a Sangean ATS-909X and ATS-909X Professional model??? Thanks...

Dallas McKenzie: Not as good asthe Tecsun 660 though

charliedontsurf70: do either of them pick up local ham's?

charliedontsurf70: ive been having a pickleens of a time trying to decide on which of these to buy.

GaryOakIsMine: Such a wonderful video! Do you think any of you SWL's can help me out here?

I'm looking between two different models of radio by different companies and need to find out which one is the better deal for the price... I am visually impaired and need quite a large screen to be able to see it, but am also looking for a small radio that I can take with me in a handbag or carry with me. I'm also on quite a tight budget and don't want to spend 250+ dollars on a radio because that's a good chunk of income...

I'm stuck between the PL-660 (which seems really good from what I had read) and the Sangean ATX 909x (which I have no idea actually display seems quite large though)...

I hate to ask Mr. Tom, but could you do a comparison video between the two radio's that I had listed? If not... That's alright... Just need to know which is better for the price... Though the Sangen has squelch and seems to have a larger display...

Sorry for posting nonsense, I hope someone has a good answer. Thanks!

Mad Radio DXer: Thanks for this comparison video. Is there a chance you can do another one with the same 2 but instead using an external rather than internal antenna? Both radios look very interesting. The 750 looks great, & the rotating AM antenna is something that appeals to me, especially when with all my portables I have to move them about to receive different countries. The ATS-909X has a nice display, & RDS is a big plus for a portable.

1fanger: I think your Grundig`s speaker has too much base response. Do you have an ext. jack so you can put a smaller speaker on it. Maybe it`ll sound better.

1fanger: Hi, I`ve been short wave dxing a long time and I have one thing that bugs me about all the modern sets. They`re too top heavy. Don`t you think that in all these years they could have designed a radio that has a lower center of gravity? Added to that is when you extend the antenna up, it makes it worse. I mean, you reach over to shut it off (and the good sets all seem to have a push button power switch), and bam, the thing hits the deck.

Robert Carlson: Was there a particular reason why you chose to compare these two radios? I think you must have been in broadcasting, just great to listen to and learning lots!

Edwin Thoma: Tom, Do a review on the 750, 909x, & the PL-880. If the 880 performs better than the PL-660, I think we will have a winner! Ed

Edwin Thoma: Tom, I'm on my Samsung S-4 & Logitech keyboard. My follow up on comparison between PL-660 & ATX-909x. The honors goes to the PL-660 & reluctantly I have it on Ebay for sale. So far, the bidding is only at $58.00 but still have 3+ days left. Normally, things heat up near the end. I purchased it (new) just recently for $100.00. But I liked the appearance of the 909x. I got it for $159.99 total. I'm really dissapointed as the sensitivity sucks. So I've debated what to do! There is a ATX-909X Proffesional that I could get for around $285.00 but it may not perform much better than the PL-660. So I considered the PL-880 and now have a offer for $175.00 on Ebay. I know it will outperform the 660 which I was satisfied with, and it has a more boxier shape (similiar to 909x) which I like. I live in an apartment and my antenna selection is very limited. Also, I receive a lot of noise & I have pin-pointed it down to 3 culprits: 1) My Apple computer, especially when AC Power Suppy is on. 2) My AT&T Modem (Internet Connection) which I need to have it on or I have no reception on the Internet plus I can't get on everything with my cell phones? 3) Florensent Lighting outside my front door in hallway.
I can't do anything about the #3 but if I disconnect # 1 & 2, Reception is much better. So I have some A/C Power-Line filters on Ebay that I have an offer on. Not sure these will work and if I get them I will give you my report as I know this is/has been a big problem with your reception in your shack. That's it for now OM; 73's & Happy new years. Edwin

BillboardPenguin: I like to see HF receivers compared with external antennas. What I don't like is a radio that overloads easily, because I rarely listen with just the whip.

MrPlutoUSA: Tom, thanks for giving it a second try, and Merry Christmas!

KB2CWN: Tom, did some comparisons on the 750 vs 909X tonight and I am posting the videos. My conclusion is the 750 has slightly better sennsitivity compared to the 909X. But the speaker on the 750 is what makes it sound more robust. I would say the Tecsun 660 gives the 750 a run for the money. The Tecsun has slightly better sensitivity than the Sangean also, and about $100 cheaper. The Sync on the 660 is superb and really enhances the sound even with the smaller speaker. My conclusions are, for a large table top, the 750 wins, but for a smaller portable, the Tecsun 660 is a better choice. Although not as stylish, it has better sensitivity and tone.

KB2CWN: Sounds good Tom, maybe sometime after the holidays. Tried the 909x this morning (Monday) and conditions were better. Was able to receive a station I listen to in Filipino that has a transmitter located somewhere in Italy, at 10am local time on 15.320 every day. Signal was fairly strong.
