Kurt Baier: Sew on a sternum strap, and put a Molle 2 hip pad and the comfort will improve. Cut 2 strips off the end of your GI green pad and tape to each shoulder pad. A Molle sustainment pouch can be added to each side, spray paint to match. Trim the edge of green GI pad along the length to equal the height of the pack, and trim off the the end of the pad to about 4.5 feet. Line your pack with the trimmed down pad and stuff the middle. Secure the tent to the bottom. Your GI canteen, cup, natick stove, is your cook set. Checkout my channel: kurt Baier. Liked your vid.

Kurt Baier: You can add a Molle two sustainment pouch to either side to plus up volume. Spray paint to match dominant color. I've used a hydration bladder in mine. That's a kidney pad, not a hip pad. Your load sits as high as you can get it with a ruck. Your LBE was down on your hips. Buy an aftermarket frame to attach a Molle two hip pad, and an enchanted shoulder pads if desired.

Fintan: These are great packs. Be careful cause they're overpriced on Amazon and a lot of sites, you shouldn't be paying $40 or whatever for just the frame and straps. A pack in good condition(with frame, straps, rucksack, everything) shouldn't cost more then $50. That's one in good condition. I love the medium ALICE, it's the perfect size for me. It has the big open ruck compartment, and then three big outside pockets. For me I put a med kit in one pocket, my rain coat in the other pocket, and my GI style steel canteen, cup, lid, and spork in the last outside pocket. Then have your sleeping system on top strapped on, and sleeping pad on botton strapped on. You're left with the whole rest of the ruck for storage, and you already have most of what you need. I stole an idea from another youtuber and used some foam to basically keep the pack solid looking and uniform but also to use as a pillow and mat to sit on while washing/changing(as well as other uses). Just the perfect ruck in my opinion, budget or not.

USMC H&S 2/9: Have you done the hellcat mod to the med. alice yet? Use the Molle gen 4 plastic frame and the molle II shoulder straps and kidney pads. this upgrade will make your alice a totally new pack and very comfortable as well.

Thermopylae2007: While I wouldn't want to overstate the desirability of these packs, they do seem like a decent option for short camping trips in decent weather. I picked up the sphagetti straps to mount the USGI Military Sleep System on top of the packand also attach the roll up mat to the bottom, which leaves ample space in the main bag.  Certainly has its place for some trips.

Olympic Outdoors Dad: I just got my Alice frame, excited to get a pack for it not sure whether to get large or medium.

USMC H&S 2/9: I swapped out the shoulder straps and kidney pad belt with mollee . way more comfortable and easier to hump. The ALICE med and lg packs are the ONLY packs I ever need or use.

Rob Faircloth: I have both the Medium and Large Alice packs. I love the size of the medium but I can overload the large if I am not careful. At almost 62 years old I don't want to carry 100 lbs Lol.
